Processed food is also known as composite or multi-ingredient food. Export requirements for processed food are different between markets and depend on the ingredients of your product. Food exporters have responsibilities to make sure the food they sell is safe to eat and meets all applicable food standards and requirements. They also have to:
- comply with the relevant export eligibility requirements
- report to MPI if their products do not meet New Zealand food standards or are refused entry by a destination country
- keep the right records.
